Nike ZoomX Vista Grind with Sabina Ddumba

A sneaker as bold as Time Square, the Nike ZoomX Vista Grind appears as a lifestyle phenomenon, teased for quite some time and now finally available. The translucent silhouette with its exaggerated lifestyle platform taps into the rich history of Nike running shoes but shapes its aesthetics to the extent that “running” can only be attributed to the early stages of the design process. The Nike ZoomX Vista Grind builds a bridge for female sneakerheads, for style-conscious women (and also men, the shoe will be available in bigger sizes) making their voice heard that the variety of limited-edition “drop-based” male sneakers needs to be balanced in favor of women.    We linked-up with Swedish pop phenomenon Sabina Ddumba to give the new sneaker the deserved highlight, a perfect fit for the summer-ready sneaker. SNS Presents Nike ZoomX Vista Grind Interview

SNS: Hi Sabina, we read that you got into music at an early age, singing in your school choir and at church. Two things that go quite well together and Sweden is famous for its choir-culture. Has it been a struggle for you to do that and inside you wanted to break out and become a pop star, or was it a natural evolution? Sabina Ddumba: Hey! Uhm, it was a natural evolution. Singing in a choir has given me so much. I mean I never went to a music school so I learned almost everything within the choir.

SNS: You sing in English, a current counter-movement, as a lot of Swedish artists have rediscovered their mother tongue. When did you decide to perform in English, and how does it change the way of expressing yourself? Sabina Ddumba: I grew up listening to music in English because my biggest inspirations at young age were mostly Afro-American and my older siblings were all hiphop-heads. I started singing covers also in the choir , all in English so it all just happened.

*SNS: With your Ugandan and Swedish roots, do you think that those two cultures can be felt in your music? * Sabina Ddumba: Definitely, even though I’m born and raised in Sweden I still grew up in a Ugandan household :) its all in me :)

SNS: You just dropped your single Blow My Mind in collaboration with Mr Eazi, who also played at our SNS fashion week party in Paris, how did you guys meet and start collaborating? Sabina Ddumba: I went to Lagos last year for the first time and got to know an amazing producer who go by the name of Spellz, who today is very good friend, kinda like a brother. He heared blow my mind and introduced us to mr Eazi.

SNS: The video to Blow My Mind looks fantastic, where was it shot? Sabina Ddumba: Thank you so much! The video was shot I LA

*SNS: “Homeward Bound” your debut record was released three years ago, since then a lot has happened, we would assume. From winning Newcomer of the Year at the Swedish Grammys, backing Katy Perry to going platinum, what were your personal highlights? * Sabina Ddumba: One of my personal highlights is when I got to sing at the National Theatre of Kampala. For sure such an empowering experience!

SNS: On every Instagram post, you look fresh; your style seems an essential part of your personality. Do you dress from the sneakers (or shoes) up, or down? As SNS, we mostly check which kicks to wear, and then see what goes with it. Can you tell us a bit about how you go about your looks and style? Sabina Ddumba: Yes it’s very much apart of my personality and yes I usually dress from the sneakers up! When I put together an outfit I really go after my mood or the mood I’d like to be in. It’s all about standing out without screaming “HEY LOOK AT ME!”
