Sneakersnstuff & Parks Dept Present: Working In Fashion
How Women's Role in fashion have evolved
Last week, Sneakersnstuff & Parks Dept presented “Working In Fashion - How Women's Role in fashion have evolved.” Hosted by Minya Quirk, our guests Jessica Gonsalves (co-founder of Procell), Whitney Pozgay (Designer at Whit) and Estelle Bailey-Babenzien (founder of The Dream Awake & co-founder of Noah) had an inspiring conversation in front of a jam-packed Sneakersnstuff New York store-crowd, discussing the future role of women in fashion, collaborating more – while competing less, being inspired by each other, and so much more. Thanks to all our guests and visitors, audience and friends who showed up and made this heartfelt evening a success and resisting the cold & snowy weather in the Big Apple.

Women’s roles in fashion are evolving in the way that more women are collaborating with each other, instead of competing with each other. This brings a greater community of women to the top instead of putting each other down.
Jessica Gosalves
I would say the biggest change is that women are more present: more present in meetings, decision making, being catered to, and just by the numbers–we are here and we are not going away. We are just as big of a market as menswear, if not, bigger.
Whitney Pozgay
I think there’s been a nice evolution of more women designing for women, as well taking bigger roles in companies–not only as designers but across the board. It’s great to see women confident enough in themselves to be the tastemakers of the industry, and paving the way for future women executives and entrepreneurs to see where they can be.
Minya Quirk
Women’s roles in fashion and society are in a constant state of evolution. Fashion is a great industry to explore and test the boundaries of forward change.
