SNS Presents Converse Pro Leather in Belleville
Made famous by Julius “Dr. J” Erving, the Pro Leather was part of many game-changing moments. The first to blend high-flying style and performance. The first to take off from the free-throw line. Today, the silhouette has been upgraded for improved fit and function. Inspired by one of the best to ever play the game, designed to help you create your own story.
To highlight the Pro Leather Snake Sequins and the Pro Leather Pony Hair, musician Niariu and photographer Sylvain Sey took us on a journey through one of the most inspiring areas of Paris: Belleville.
Niariu always felt like an alien in Paris, caught between the mixes of two different cultures until six years ago when she began intertwining these unique perspectives and heritage into her music and daily style. For her, this hybrid mix is perfectly captured in the busy streets of Belleville, the 20th district of Paris. “As the child of Africian immigrants Belleville is one of the amazing areas of Paris where I can feel at home,” says Niariu. “You have so many communities, people wearing their traditional clothes all kinds of food and languages spoken. That’s the Paris I love – beautiful and diverse, where you can embrace your roots without being seen as a menace to society.” Photographer Sylvain Sey shares a similar notion about the unique authenticity of the 20th. “I love this area because it’s multi-ethnic. I’m a suburbs child so the lifestyle is similar to what I see here – everyone’s living together, hustling and sharing the same values, it’s important.”
My music is an honest share of emotions. Through words and sounds I’m hoping to transcend. Like my style, my music is a hybrid, it’s the fruits of my identities created through experiments and inspirations so opposite and diverse that they somehow compliment each other. I believe in the magical healing power of music. You will be able to discover my universe in 2020.
I started photography about 10 years ago with a digital camera. Shooting my friends while my different trip , sneakers, and everything I liked. I always loved everything about pictures and graphics visuals etc.. Then I started to shoot with analogue cameras and since I did I only use them. * - Sylvain Sey*
