Nike Air Max 1

The Nike Air Max 1 was released 1987. It was the first Nike shoe with a visible Air unit providing unique cushioning. This wouldn’t have happened if Nike designer Tinker Hatfield hadn`t gone on a trip to Paris to get inspired by the Centre Georges Pompidou, a building that takes all its functionality and structural elements and places it on the outside. What started as a big risk for Nike by revealing the Air-cushioned sole is now unimaginable with many different models following that simple rule.
